Learn how to make a penny stitch mat using traditional penny circle shapes. Penny stitching was popularized around the time of the Civil War when homemakers would use scraps of wool from old clothing or blankets to make festive home decorations such as centerpieces, mantel covers, or seasonal mats.
The finished piece will measure approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter and makes a cozy accent for your home. The colors are perfect for fall and winter.
Please bring a pair of scissors and note-taking supplies. You may want to bring a snack or plan to purchase a treat at Rocky's Coffee and Ice Cream.
