Madison Dry Goods is very nice and cozy. The food is excellent, the clothes are great and the people are wonderful. Everyone was so nice and made you feel right at home. Definitely recommend to everyone. I can’t wait to visit again.

Visited Madison Dry Goods for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere, the history, the restaurant, and the staff made for an incredible experience. Such a large selection of antiques, old time candy, clothing, and so much more! Plus there's an entire historical museum upstairs, which is free to visit. I had lunch at their restaurant, which was amazing, not to mention cheaper than what you'd pay at a fast food restaurant. This will definitely be a place I continue to come back to.

As part of my quest to visit all 100 NC counties I stopped in Rockingham today, and I decided to shop here after seeing it on Atlas Obscura BUT I didn't even read the whole entry, so I got the surprise about the Lawson Family murder museum upstairs. The upstairs museum also has other vintage items from the area as well as antiques to shop. I picked up a really comfy shirt and some other items as well. If you want to donate to the museum, bring cash. I don't know that the museum is accessible. I did not see an elevator in this older building. Bathroom was also clean. Definitely has an intriguing visit with very friendly staff.

This place was very cool and the staff is wonderful. The store downstairs had plenty of things to look at and choose from, and the museum upstairs is very well kept with lots of things related to the history and time period. For those of you who are wondering, yes.. it is very much a spiritually active place. I'm a psychic medium that specializes in the paranormal and connected with some of the spirits, so keep that in mind when going. There is a lot of history in this building, and it shows. I will be going back soon in the future!

Really enjoyed the visit here. They support a lot of small local businesses and everything is reasonably priced! The environment is very relaxing, no rush or pressure to purchase anything, the owners are some of the sweetest most genuine people I’ve met at a store and very knowledgeable on the history of the store and town. The museum on the 2nd floor gave me chills and a heavy feeling came over me at the end of the hall but it didn’t feel evil or scare me at all. They have a few rooms blocked off (no entry) as well as the 3rd floor. Love the history behind this building and I’m forever grateful that someone is taking great care of it the way they have and I look forward to many many returns! Wish more people cared about history like these owners do ❤️
