Philip Parrish 5 out of 5 stars★★★★★I've driven by this place several times but it's almost always so crowded and I'm impatient. Today I was finally able to dine there and I understand why it's busy. This is down home country cooking at its finest. Located along a scenic stretch of road just before the city limits of Danbury, it's a great location. Inside, it's old school southern charm and delicious biscuits and gravy. My omelet was loaded with bacon and cheese, and my fiance's tenderloin had great breading and was tender enough to cut with a fork. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive. If this place has a down side, it's only that it's small inside and could use more room to seat more guests. Great food ya'll. Thank you.

R S 5 out of 5 stars★★★★★⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dan River Family Restaurant is exactly the kind of small, hometown place you hope to find when you want good home-style food without anything fancy or overcomplicated. The atmosphere has a very local, country-family feel to it. You see families eating together, people coming in straight from work, and regular folks just stopping in for a good meal. It feels comfortable and welcoming rather than polished or corporate, which is part of the appeal. The restaurant is locally owned and fits that classic mom-and-pop family restaurant style very well. The food was very good, came out quickly, and everything we ordered was cooked correctly. Prices overall were reasonable, with plenty of lower-cost options mixed in with some more expensive entrées. My meal came out to around $11, which is hard to complain about for a filling sit-down meal. The sliced fried potatoes were especially good, and the ranch tasted homemade or at least much better than the usual bottled restaurant ranch. They also have some fun specialty drinks. I tried an Alani cream-soda-style drink that was surprisingly good, and the Dirty Dr Pepper was also a hit. Service was excellent. The staff stayed friendly and attentive throughout the visit, and my drink never got close to empty. One thing to keep in mind is that some beverages may have a charge for refills, so it is worth asking before ordering if that matters to you. Portion sizes and the overall menu selection are solid, and this is the kind of place where you can get burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafood, breakfast-style comfort food, and other familiar American dishes without spending a fortune. Current listings also describe them as being known for generous portions and traditional country-style food.

Patrick Brown 5 out of 5 stars★★★★★My wife and I visited Dan River this evening and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, fresh, and delicious. My wife especially enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich with baked chips. I had the catfish and shrimp which was very good with generous portions. The standout, though, was the service. We were fortunate enough to have both waitresses help us. They were wonderful and so very nice. They alone would make us come back, which we plan to do so soon! Thank you, Dan River Family Restaurant, for a wonderful meal at a very fair price!

Isaiah 5 out of 5 stars★★★★★Absolutely 10/10 experience I wish I could leave six stars, all the staff was extremely attentive and super personable and sweet. Not once did we run low on drink or any other items / condiments. The food was amazing I got the popcorn shrimp, coleslaw, and a hush puppy. The hush puppies are HUGE & do not let the size deceive you they are delicious I was really impressed. Everything else was fresh and delicious as well, loved the atmosphere and I surprisingly ended up having room for dessert which was some sort of chocolate chip pie of sorts. Really glad I ended up stopping in while I was coming through and definitely see myself coming back in the near future!
