Rebecca GebauerA fantastic hike with a big reward at the top! The Hanging Rock trail is moderate and very manageable, even for a couch potato like me. It’s well maintained, and the climb feels worth it once you reach the summit. The views are absolutely stunning and make for some incredible photos. One tip for future visitors: the restrooms at the Visitor Center don’t open until 8:30 a.m., so if you’re arriving early, use the toilets at the Lake Picnic Area instead, as they’re open whenever the park is open. Definitely recommend this hike if you’re looking for a manageable trail with spectacular scenery!

Starr PridgenGreat moderate hike! Only challenging parts were the steep inclines and minor rock scramble if you have mobility issues. Trail is wide and well marked, easy to follow, and big enough for back and forth traffic. We went early and didn’t encounter many people till the top. The top has many different overlooks from all angles so you can look out to the Northwest to Moore’s Knob and Southwest. Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and foothills. There’s places to walk out on the jutting cliffside if you’re brave enough. Parking lot is huge with access to facilities. We went on a Saturday and when we arrived back at the lot there was a food truck operating and a small market.

Charles AtkinsI picked a cold winters day for this hike. I would say that the trail to the top of hanging rock is a moderate difficulty. The trail itself is nice and wide. You could drive a vechicle most of the way to the top. At the end it gets a bit rocky. The trail is mostly up and down hill. Great place to work those leg muscles.

Aadil Abbas OfficialHanging Rock is absolutely stunning! The hike to the top is moderate and totally worth it for the breathtaking views. The trails are well marked, the waterfalls are beautiful, and the park is very clean. Perfect spot for hiking, picnics, and photography. If you’re in North Carolina, this is a must-visit for nature lovers!
